What to expect when you visit
Welcome to Shell Community Church! We meet together every Sunday at 8:30 am and in Bible Studies and Community Groups during the week. We sincerely hope we have the opportunity to welcome you in person!
Our Sunday service at 8:30 am includes traditional worship (hymns and some contemporary music), scripture, prayer, and a sermon. We enjoy visiting after the service with coffee, tea, and snacks. We love meeting visitors and new residents during this time.
The Shell Church holds a special place in our small Wyoming community as the only church building in town, serving the community since 1904. While our primary purpose is to worship and serve our Lord, we also support our surrounding community with care and fellowship.
What is the preaching like?
The Bible is the very Word of God and is profitable for teaching, reproof, correction, and for training in righteousness; this is why it’s our focus each week and in each sermon. Sermons are typically up to 30 minutes and are based on God’s Word.
We have several teachers who rotate through the pulpit, each providing sermons in their unique style.
What is the music like?
Music is a beautiful gift from God, allowing us to combine doctrine and devotion as we glorify our Savior as a congregation.
Our music includes classic hymns of faith alongside more contemporary songs with God-honoring lyrics. While piano and organ are heard weekly, you may occasionally hear anything from bagpipes to an accordion.
What do you have for children?
We provide Children’s Sunday School, with structured lessons and activities. Your children can join you for the service and will be dismissed for Sunday School right before the sermon begins.
What do I wear?
As a ranching community, some attendees relish the chance to “put on their Sunday best”, while others come more casually. Business casual is the most common attire, but there is no dress code at Shell Community Church, so please wear what’s comfortable for you!
If I visit, am I expected to give?
As a visitor at Shell Church, we do not expect anything from you financially. Instead, it’s our heart’s desire that you receive new life in Christ Jesus, which He offers at no price.
We believe that financial stewardship is an important aspect of a believer’s worship. If you are a follower of Christ and become a regular attendee at SCC, we encourage you to worship the Lord through regular, cheerful giving as the Lord directs you.
If you would like to give, we pass offering plates during our Worship Service.
What Ministries and Groups Are Available?
Sunday Morning Services
Our worship service begins at 8:30 am. We participate in songs, prayers, and a Bible-based sermon. The service concludes about 9:30, and we then spend another 30 minutes in fellowship.
Community Coffee’s On – 9:30am
An informal gathering meets every Wednesday from 9:30 am to Noon for conversation. Everyone is welcome!
Wednesday Bible Study and Fellowship – 5:30pm
We enjoy a potluck dinner and fellowship at 5:30 pm. Bible study starts at 6 pm and runs to 7:00. We then spend about 30 minutes in discussion, prayer, and song, usually finishing by 7:30 p.m. Our current study doesn’t involve any homework, so you are welcome to stop in without preparation. We always have plenty of food, so visitors don’t need to bring anything but a cheerful heart and a hunger for God’s Word.
Do you have a newsletter?
Yes, we publish a bi-monthly newsletter. It’s available at the back of the church. It includes congregation news, upcoming events, and the schedule of upcoming sermon presenters.
